Engineering Team Manager

Key accountabilities include:   

  • Provide direct management to all members of your team and associated staff ensuring they work in a safe and effective manner, and are developed to meet their career aspirations and the needs of the business.
  • Plan maintenance and resources within your team to ensure tasks/Workload is maintained to ensure maximum up time.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers and service providers to ensure service levels are relevant, cost effective and communicated effectively where relevant.
  • Be responsible for the quality of workmanship produced by members of your team by regularly monitoring and mentoring them.
  • Manage and assess the work area in order to ensure that Health, Safety, Welfare and Environmental responsibilities are met.
  • Promote a Continuous Improvement Culture within your work area. Ensure you involve your team in the projects/change programme, supporting the site Food Safety Culture and improvement objectives.

Skillset/Personal Attributes  

  • Lead by example, develop and manage your team to effectively support the business operation, and comply with Legislation, Company standards, and policies.
  • Provide clear and robust management to ensure working techniques are within Safety Regulations and are industry recognised.
  • Ensure a “Planned Preventive Maintenance” PPM work ethic is adhered to by all, and the “Computerised Maintenance Management System” is integrated into daily routine.
  • Ensure there are sufficient trained resources within your team to meet the Health & Safety, food safety and auditing needs of the department. 
  • Carry out personal appraisals, disciplinary and career development interviews.
  • Complete shift reports ensuring all relevant information is contained and follow up actions are clear.
  • Working flexibly within and across departments and sites in order to meet the continually changing needs of the business and demonstrate a collaborative approach with close working relationships.

Qualifications

  • Be qualified (Minimum SVQ 3) in an engineering discipline.
  • Highly motivated, with a proactive approach.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Have a passion and drive to develop team members.
