Our history, our business, our people

Kettle Produce is a market leader for the provision of fresh and prepared vegetables. We are passionate about our food, we work closely with our farmers who grow for us ensuring that we supply high quality produce to our customers.

In Fife, Scotland, we employ over 1,100 permanent staff across both our sites and are one of the largest private sector employers in the region.

Through our network of trusted suppliers, we have over 5,000 hectares of crops grown in Scotland and around the world, ensuring continuity of quality and supply.

We deliver daily to our customers nationwide.

Our Sites

Our Balmalcolm site is our registered Head Office.

This 11,500m² factory is where we process and pack a range of prepared and washed vegetables including brassicas, roots, and salads.

The fully automated preparation and packing equipment includes the latest technology and is constantly upgraded to ensure that the quality of the final product is consistently best in class.

This sufficient chilling and cold chain maintenance ensure that our customers receive products with optimum levels of freshness and taste.

Located just two miles from our Balmalcolm site, Orkie was completely rebuilt following a fire in 2010.

The rebuild allowed us to increase the size of the site from 8,000m² to 22,000m² to house our state-of-the-art carrot, parsnip and swede washing, grading, and packing line capabilities. This has helped us to improve our efficiency and increase our volume.

This new facility will allow us to remain at the forefront of root vegetable processing for many years to come.

In November 2016, we opened our Ready to Eat facility in response to customer demand and to further future-proof the business.

Kettle Produce España (KPE) was established in 2003.

We work together with our Spanish partners, to ensure supply of fresh produce outwith our normal Scottish growing seasons.

KPE is now a well-established business supplying broccoli, cabbages, and a variety of melons.

The water treatment plant reuses the rainwater to serve up to 25% of our crop needs.

In November 2018, Kettle Produce acquired the well-established Nottingham-based Barrowcliffe Limited

This move allowed us to further strengthen our position as one of the leading vegetable suppliers in the UK.

Barrowcliffes are suppliers, wholesalers, distributors, and producers of whole or prepared fruit, vegetables, salad, herbs, and exotic produce.

Barrowcliffes have 3 sites (49,000m²) offering the latest food preparation technology, large chilled storage facilities, a fleet of chilled delivery vehicles and a highly trained and skilled food preparation team.
