As a company, preserving the environment is at the heart of what we do. We take every opportunity to raise awareness and educate the wider community about what we do in terms of promoting sustainability and protecting the environment.

We take every possible opportunity to raise awareness and educate the wider community about what we do in terms of promoting sustainability and protecting the environment.

We are highly committed members of LEAF (Linking The Environment and Farming) and practice sustainable farming  and vegetable production by enhancing the value of our key assets, our workforce, capital and machinery to benefit and protect our natural habitats and resources of soil, water wildlife and landscape through training and investment in new technologies in field and factory.

Examples of the conservation work carried out by our Brussels sprout and carrot growers includes work on the protection of our local populations of Corn Bunting in the East Neuk of Fife by sowing areas of cereals to feed them during the cold winter months or helping bumble bees by sowing out wild flowers next to our carrot, sprout and lettuce crops. In Fife, there has been a 60% increase in corn bunting territories over the last four years and numbers in 2018 had doubled since their lowest point in 2001.

We are also certified producers through the Red Tractor and GLOBALGAP schemes which are recognised in the UK and Europe and cover food safety, good agricultural practices and environmental protection.

Increasingly, sustainability in terms of assisting our customers in reducing use of plastic and packaging changes and helping to drive down levels of food waste are also part of our partnership working with suppliers and customers across the UK and Europe.
