Packaging Operative

Kettle Produce Limited is one of the major suppliers of fresh and pre-packed vegetables in the UK. We are a dynamic and customer focused business and our packaging department plays a pivotal role in the successful operation of the business.

We currently have a requirement for a Packaging Operative within our Packaging Team.

Packaging Operatives are responsible for ensuring stock accuracy in terms of goods received and issued, reacting in a timely manner to requests from Production and maintaining an organised and tidy store area contributing to high standards of health and safety.

The successful candidate should have an awareness of quality and safety procedures, be cost conscious and demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy in their work. In addition, candidates must have excellent communication skills and be able to maintain effective communication channels with both internal and external customers to enable seamless, efficient information flow.

Experience of working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Email would be advantageous.

The role includes duties such as:

  • Comply with all Kettle H&S requirements and maintain a tidy packaging store
  • Receive packaging material from external suppliers and complete appropriate Tropos transactions
  • Check samples of all deliveries of printed components and complete intake sheet
  • Ensure all relevant factory areas (eg Greens, RTC, Distribution) are regularly topped up with necessary packaging
  • Ensure store area is always ‘audit-ready’ and address any issues arising from GMP or customer audits
  • Highlight any instances of low packaging stock to Packaging Planners
  • Pro-actively organise the store in the most efficient manner to suit all stakeholders
  • Respond in a timely manner to requests for packaging material from production, labels, Orkie, field, etc. and ensure all appropriate Tropos transactions are completed
  • Complete weekly stock counts of key components and ensure this information is available to the team
  • Regularly scan the racks in packaging store to ensure Tropos stock figures are accurate.
  • Ensure pdf folder in shared drive is kept up to date
  • Support month-end stock take by completing accurate counts in specified areas
  • Booking packaging in and out from production floor and external suppliers.
  • Support production operatives in scanning and issuing packaging material
