Farming In partnership with growers: Kettle Produce works very closely with all growers in a team effort designed to optimise product quality and efficiencies through sharing knowledge and expertise. Agronomy advice:
Harvesting operations: Kettle Produce controls the harvesting operations of all it's growers through a dedicated team of harvesting managers, supervisors and operators. Different harvesting techniques are used depending on the crop and the team in conjunction with Kettle Engineering, continually seek new ways to drive improvements in quality and efficiency. Grower assurance: Kettle Produce growers in Scotland, England, France and Spain meet European requirements for food safety traceability and protection of the environment in a variety of regions each unique in terms of landscape and diversity of wildlife. Compulsory Assurance schemes are implemented in consultation with Kettle's own technical experts to ensure the standards of EUREPGAP are fully met or exceeded in the areas of integrated pest management, soil management, pollution control and worker health safety and welfare. Biological Diversity Throughout Europe, Kettle Produce growers are involved in a range of different local and national enviromental priorities, from the protection of nationally important river basins in Scotland through to the provision of safe staging points in South West France for the annual migration of thousands of Cranes as they migrate from the Tiaga of Northern Europe to the Iberian Peninsula. Kettle Produce carrot and brussel sprout growers work hand in hand with national conservation groups to help save Corn Buntings in Scotland. Corn Buntings are in rapid, long-term decline in the UK. In Scotlandm they are now found only on the Outer Hebrides, and patchily along the east coast from Fife to Inverness. Decline continues; the breeding population is probably fewer than 800 pairs, and extinction on Scotland threatens. Kettle French carrot growers help protect the rare European Mink in the Les Landes region of France. A century ago European Mink could be found throughout the European continent. It has declined due to hunting, habitat loss, water pollution and competition with the American Mink, which was introduced into Europe in 1926 for fur farming. Currently, it is declining rapidly in Eastern Europe and probably only exists in small populations in France. Production Map Europe
